VTR1000 Project Bike
Hi All
Just bought a yellow VTR as a project bike to rebuild - I've always liked the looks of the VTR as one of Honda's unsung classics
I've just finished a VFR800 FI which I love to ride - hoping for the same when this bike is finished
Are there common issues to look out for - my bike is a little rough and has covered approx 30k
I want to replace the frame as its not in good condition, looked on Ebay but all are either high mileage or insurance damaged
Is there a good place to go for parts - I'm sure I'm going to need quite a few
I know the bikes aren't worth a great deal but I build these as a hobby and will spend more than the bike will be worth when finished
Cheers

It's a frame. What does the mileage matter? They don't wear out.
What's wrong with your old frame?

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: VTR1000 Project Bike
I'm guessing it's all to do with the numberplate and tied in frame number, with that being linked to big brother at the mot depot, which records the mileage at mot time

Re: VTR1000 Project Bike
Yeah but you can change the engine with clocks to match the mileage the next MOT just shows that. Only an issue if you sell it & have to explain it to the potential new owner. If their not happy they won't buy it. But if its a lower milage what's the problem?

A good point about the clocks going with an engineMacV2 wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 11:42 pmYeah but you can change the engine with clocks to match the mileage the next MOT just shows that. Re: VTR1000 Project Bike
MOT mileage history is readily available on the net - I'm building the bike so dont want a huge discrepancy on mileage irrespective of what the clocks say.
My existing frame is linked to an insurance write off and in poor condition hence I'm looking for a good replacement
Cheers
