Battery voltage?

Post by Charlie »

Please can you help. I don't know what voltage my battery is and I stupidly flattened it following fixing one of my indicators and then leaving it swithced on all day! I don't want to fry it if it is a 6v as I only have a 12v charger.

Yikes!!!
If you only have a cheep unregulated charger DONT charge it for more than 20 minutes.
They have no current regulation and it will spoil your battery.
These batteries need a stablised voltage supply or the discharge characteristics will be fooked, then, when they turn the engine over it will either be too slow or it wont have enough juice to give a clean spark.
Use a good charger (like an optimate or similar) or just give it a small, short charge (just enough to get it started) and take it on a long run and let the bike charge itself.
