First time in 3½ years of ownership that the VTR is running like a pig.
I recently ran her completely dry and since then she hasn't been as smooth as before. It is especially bad in cold weather.
On the frosty mornings she runs as if she's about to run out of petrol. (stuttering engine) but on the way home she runs fine.
I used some Carb cleaner to clear out the carbs and some petrol enhancer in an attempt to clean out the engine a bit.
Anyhow, Anybody else with the same symptons due to the cold weather?
Sounds like you've dragged a bit of crud into your carb bowls, you need to take off the bowls a clean the crud out, check the jets are clear whilst your at it mate.
"Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut."
If It's not crud check the heat rating of your plugs. I had exactly thr same problem last winter and a hotter grade plug sorted it
I don't have the number at hand at the mo but I can look it up for you if you wish.

Pete, I already bought the dpr9eix-9 spark plugs so will have to do with them. Since the original post the weather hasn't been as cold in ireland and the bike is running fine so I suspect it is just that it could do with a hotter spark rather then the carbs being dirty.
Yep That should work!
You might wear the plugs out a bit quicker and who cares about AM these days If you're lucky your neighbours might even know when your coming down the street by the pretty little paturns on their TV screens
Hi Bink mate, just a thought, how about the diaphragm in the petrol tap, running the bike dry would have meant it would have been working overtime and subsequently damaged it
