NONFANGO have full kit for Storm.
Check it out here

http://www.nonfango.it

I never ever tried hard pannier on my bikes after I had test drive on Bandit with panniers - I think it is scary. Behaviour of bike at serious speeds becoing horrible, and reaction to crosswind was even worse.
So I travel light - rollpack on pillion seat. As last case - soft side panniers.
They smaller, flatter and shaped aerodynamically unlike panniers. Except dreadful Corbin creation, but I'd rather be dead :)

Yep. I fitted a Kappa set - you need the Universal fitting kit and a bit of sweat and trimming the kit (not the bike). Used it a fair bit last year and I can get the whole frame off in 20 minutes so it isn't on all the time.
If I knew how to paste an image on here I'd do it. If anyone would like to let me know how I will!

upload the image to the gallery.

right click on the image and hit properties, this should list a url, which is the location of the image. highlite it and right click your mouse, select copy.

then when writing your post hit the Img button in the icons above the post window.

then paste the copied url, then hit the /Img button above.

you should end up with , or something simillar.

that should hopefully work.

A few question on your VTR luggage set-up please

Post by w_pienaar »

I have been surfing the web on topics for hard luggage for the Firestorm and came across your solution for VTR hard language. Am I correct that the Kappa system use a “one rack fits all bikes” concept. A separate fitting kit is then required which is bike specific.

I have a few questions and will appreciate it if you could help:
• Did you use the universal fitting kit ?
• How sturdy is the bracket with all 3 boxes fitted ?
• Did you not find that the two (2) side panniers makes the bike unmanageable wide ?
• Do you have any idea how wide the bike is with the 2 panniers fitted ?
• What size panniers are you using ?
• Does cross winds adversely affect the handling of the bike with the panniers fitted ?
• Are you carrying a passenger and if so are you still using the standard seating arrangement or have you upgraded to another seat.

Thanks

hi all,

i have the same questions as above really...

also i heard horror stories about sub frames breaking when the bikes heavily loaded (i'm thinking, rider, pillion, 52 litre top box and 2*42 litre panniers is pretty heavy!)

finally i thought kappa was rebranded givi? the bloke in my local shop said there was no way of fitting givi luggage to a 'storm so i assumed kappa was the same?

finally finally... some people suggested nonfango... is thier stuff any good?

cheers

Some people should just buy tourers...

If you ate yourself would you become twice as big or simply disappear?

If it doesn't fit in a tankbag and tailpack it gets left behind
You can always buy shirts, pants etc as you need them or just pack less kit and include some soap powder
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

I had GIVI panniers on a VFR and found them great; security, nothing flapping about etc. Ive still got the cases and wing rack and have thought about fitting them on the VTR; but no-one has VTR fitting kit that I know of.
On the VFR I didnot notice any great difference in performance or handling, and came in handy on rallys if i had a pillion; back rest, extra carrying capacity. As for getting a tourer, the VTR is/can be anything you want it to be.  :D :D

Kappa is one of Givi's divisions originally meant to be OEM partner on luggage for bike makers - they do share same standards on sizing/attachemnts but generally there is differencies in the design mostly or in fact that it is "older" Givi models  So - yes, yes. They are re-branded Givi

Nonfango - I heard that panniers quality is OK. Not a top top stuff but kinda OK - better than some German brands, about same with Givi.

IMHO best ever panniers I saw was Honda-branded, on many bikes. Interesting who makes them for Honda...

heh heh, the vtr was designed to be a tourer (think VFR) they just forgot to put a fuel tank on it ;)

anyway i have toured on it (2500 miles via the nurburgring last year) i'm just hacked off with the web of straps and bungee cords needed to hold on soft luggage plus soft luggage and a girlfriend really don't mix.

i guess nonfango it is, now to find a supplier :)
