"RC" mod updates

Post by mik_str »

I just picked up my VTR from the dealer's after having had my valves adjusted. While it was in the shop, I got them to install my RC51 front brake master cylinder as well as the (quicker action) RC45 throttle tube.
Thanks to folks on this site for giving me the info required to make these mods :)

I only rode the bike a short distance (@ 20 kms) but so far I am more than pleased with these two mods. The throttle does feel substantially quicker and the front brake has a nice action.

I believe my two intake runners (thanks eBay) are now in so I will begin experimenting with those this evening.

cheers

Why merci mon ami ZéroZéro :) By the way, I LOVE the "Spork" pic :)

Just got back from a ride with the two long runners and will staying with that set-up (awesome low and mid-rpm power and response)

My mods for this year then:

RC 51 master cylinder
RC45 throttle tube
100/55 Xenon headlight
removal of driving light bulb, painted lens cover red
installation of lightened flywheel (thanks to Roger at Rev. Racing)
Flo-Commander
installation of long intake runner on front cylinder
changing gearing from 16/43 to 15/41
Mototeck undertail
LP tank bra
painted rad grills red
red stripping kit for wheels
steering damper
SRC fork brace
new low-friction C3 bearings and seals on both wheels
2 new OEM CCT's
carbon-fiber gas cap and triple clamp covers
high-mounting my Microns, adapting ZX9 rear passenger pegs to fit
heat wrapping exhaust

Previous mods:

higher windshield (clear, painted it black on the inside)
Sargent seat
Heli-bars
braided-steel front brake lines (Galfer?)
EBC HH pads all around
raised forks by 6mm
rear shock shim (4.8 mm)
Race-Tech modded rear shock
Race-Tech 0.80 kg front springs with modded (drilled) cartridge (thanks to Roger at Rev. Racing for exact specs)
Micron slip-ons
DJ kit (and dyno tuning, 105.5 hp and 68.8 ft-lbs)
VFR800 finned rectifier (and drilled the side panel for better cooling)
heavy bar ends with throttle lock
gel grips
painted the chin fairing black

The cost? Not sure (rather not think about it actually).
The result? Priceless :)

cheers

P.S. If I can figure out how to post a pic I will do so!

Well done Mik, a photo would be nice :!:

I like the last two sentences:
The cost? Not sure (rather not think about it actually).
The result? Priceless

thanks Sirch :)

By the way, it looks good (IMHO, unbiased of course) but it runs even better :)

I must confess I feel like a bit of a "knob" for not being able to post the pic. Care to share the secret?

cheers

By the way, I hope you folks realize once and for all that the dark blue ones are the fastest (when running in our fine and clean North American air anyhow), lol

cheers

P.S. I fully expect the owners of red, yellow, silver and black (and yikes, maybe even the teal and orange crowd, eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!) Storms to contest this fact but the truth can be a bitter pill to swallow at times, lol :)

I couldn't get the pic to open on here at first either, but could open it in Google, in the end I had to save the pic on my computer then host it with Image Shack, then use the Img button as you tried, then it could be seen on here :!:

Cheers Chris.

Sorry Zero but complex colour schemes do not count. Besides, it is a well documented fact that they did some tests in Latvia a few years back and found that the very colour scheme you are using was responsbile for a 8.76 mph loss. Sorry to be the one to break it to you
