Hello from Nova Scotia, Canada

Post by chewpick »

Hey there all. Just took the plunge into a lightly used 98 VTR1000. Got to say she's a treat.
Anyway, I had a bit of a problem when I pulled up to an intersection and depressed the clutch while waiting. She nearly stalled on me. :? I had to keep revving her. Now, it only happened twice, but I'm wondering what could cause this? Dirty Carbs? I should let you know that I just gave her a good spanking on the highway before this happened.

This has happened to quite a few people, it just seems to be the norm when engine breaking that it sometimes stalls when stopped.

one solution that works for some people is to re-route the breather hoses from the carbs i think it is, Pete L posted pics of this mod a good while ago, i think it was just a matter of taking the kink out the hose, hope he can do it again, or else happy hunting.

and welcome aboard by the way.

Perfect! I post a question as I'm leaving work. I get home and check for responses and I've got 3. Gotta love it!
Thanks people, I'll check out the mod.

Thanks for the warm welcome people. I'm a bit of a forum junkie, and can't leave well enough alone when it comes to tinkering with things so you'll see lots of me on here.
Luckily she hasn't completely stalled out on me, but I've had to catch it with a throttle twist a few times now.
