Carbs/Airfilter/needles/jets etc????

Post by delmeekc »

If you havn't had it long I would strip the carbs down and check everything out to see what's in them. Don't know the history but if you bought it second hand the guy before might have stuck the standard cans on etc and left the jetting/needles etc in maybe for race cans and K&N.

Definately strip em down and take a look, check filter too, for over oiling and drain the float bowls etc.

Jets/Needles

Post by delmeekc »

You will know the standard needles they do not have removable E clip's for adjustment and dynojet, factory etc will have groves in them at the top to raise/lower the needle. Main jets I think are #178 and #180, not sure is at work. Pilots #45. Also check to see if the slides have been drilled, normally has two holes in the bottom but dynojet get you to drill a third.

Another check before you take em apart. Once the airfilter is out, open both slides by hand, (ie finger the throttle body) and check they close smoothly at the same speed.
