Assuming MOT is like our wof (warrent of fitness) ours are annualy for vehicles up to 5 yrs, 6 monthly after that. Got mine on wed last week, flew thru, but i put new brake pads on this weekend anyway. Its a good feeling when an independent person checks your vehicle and finds nothing wrong, however the $34 ask for the pleasure is getting steep.

Gees. We (in Queensland) just have what's called a road worthy certificate (RWC), and you only have to get one when you transfer ownership of a registered vehicle. We pay registration (about $380 for the Storm) annually, to legally take a vehicle on the road & that's it. Insurance isn't compulsory, although most people have it (I think). It's about the same price as rego for me (33, driving since 18, riding since 21, no accidents/claims).

We have rego as well, annually about $250. Insurance is up to you, Ive got 3rd party, cause I couldnt stump up with the $700- $1000 ask for a years ins.
3rd party cost $30. if i crash im covered for damage caused to another party, but damage to me is my problem. Not a good state of affairs but im on the road. :D :D :D

Our rego includes 3rd party personal, but not property. It's heaps more than $30 though... From memory, it's about 2/3 the rego cost!

Rego

Post by JohnnyB »

Ages since I heard the terms Rego and WOF.
I couldn't believe it when I went out to NZ, I bought myself a GSX750 Suzuki and phoned the local broker and asked for a quote for minimum legal cover

"There is no minimum requirement sir"

Fantastic! bought a new set of tyres instead. :D
