Am I being soft?

Post by Hanuman »

Last Saturday I rode from Poole to Plymouth, early doors, without a necky and ended up with a cold in the gland at the back of my throat, r/h side... hurted when I swallowed etc.

So I bought a necky and got another one free with my disc lock and chucked some nurofen down my neck for the ride back to newcastle.

anywayz..

I was out last night til about 8:30pm and the wind was still getting thru to my throat, this morning I've got another cold in the other side on the gland.

It's a pain trying to assess how much kit to wear  do I take the warm inners out and get cold at the end of the day or do I leave em in and get hot before the sun goes down

So I'm a big softy  , any reccomedations as it takes away some of the enjoyment?

cheers

I always use a snood (necky, toob, whatever)

I always grab it in my teeth when putting my helmet on too. This makes it tuck up under the helmet and doesn't leave a gap under your chin.

It could always be unrelated and you happen to pick up a virus (nothing to do with getting cold)

Well from my limited science knowledge if you happened to have a glandular infection, the 80mph wind will throw large amounts of dust particales against it and agrivate it. It will then inflame and become painful later on.

I would give it a couple of weeks and see how you get on, also see if its hurts when not on the bike etc....

For the record i dont leave the house without my neck warmer, even if its the nicest day of the year i just feel naked without it!
