Dropping forks through yokes

Post by dookie »

On the cold wet sunday that was yesterday i sat bored flicking through all the old workshop pages i came across some for dropping the forks through the yokes by 5mm , now this was something id thought about before but hadnt seen any recent posts on the idea .
So i went and did it and wow im very impressed , no longer does it feel like im tring to lean a tourer over but a much sportier bike.
Its taken away the initial feeling off not wanting to turn and feels much better mid corner as well.
The bike feels just as stable and to cap it all it feels more comfy as i now take more of my weight with my legs and my arms are now more relaxed. :D :D :D :D
Also fitted my braided hoses the other day so the bike feels much better for not too much cost. :D
There was a time i used to care

I did mine by 8mm a long while ago - have heavier springs/oil in the forks and a Hagon shock and she turns and tracks exactly how I want. The R6 I rode recently does it better, but on a slightly bumpy A road on whacked open throttle was shaking its head like a shaking head thing shaking its head (sorry, opened some wine a bit ago) and the Storm doesn't.

I still have the suspension fairly soft - I reckon on real roads, especially bumpy ones - I can leave others behind as they set bikes up way too hard.

A pity Honda didn't fit some decent suspension from the off (together with a decent CCT!)
