Running rich?

Post by BazF »

I noticed yesterday that when opening up the throttle while standing next to the bike that there is a fair load of soot coming out.

When i bought the bike the previous owner said it was fitted with a K&N filter, rejetted carbs and remus race pipes, it does sound and go very well but will it need tuning? is my best bet to put it on a dyno?

cheers

hi there,

i was in the same boat after buying a 2nd hand 'storm with the same setup as yours..

the main issue is that a lean mixture is bad and a rich mixture is also bad ( for different reasons i and others can bore you with ) you really need to get it on a dyno and have peice of mind,

another cheap check is to take it on a good run and get the plugs out of the engine when it has cooled - check the colour and state....this will speak volumes and the guide to what the colours are is in any old haynes car manual or on the web...

cheers
