Yellow (The earlier darker yellow) Matching colour?

Post by Tempest »

Am going to spray the small lower cowl in Yellow to match my bike's colour (the early 1997 nice deep yellow)

Am going to look around and see if I can find any normal car paint which matches (near enough)

Just wondered if anyone had found any matching yellows from the many of the car spray tins out there?

I've glanced in Halfords quickly and threre seemed one or two that looked very close. I shall take my rear seat cover in and see how they compare.

Thought someone else may have already gone down this route and could point me in the right direction?

Take your seat off and look on the left hand side of the sub-frame, there should be a sticker with the paint code on it.

Sorry, I should have said this.

Yes, I know I can get the original paint code, and (Probably) order a massivly overpriced tin of official honda paint.

I'm not trying to repair damage so a absolute (under a microscope) colour match is not the end of the world.

I was wondering if anyone had found any normal "off the shelf" spray paint in a car shop that was (by chance) the same shade of yellow?

Just go down to you local car pains supplier with your bike and use his colour chart. He will mach it.

The Honda paint might be metalic and be a 2 or 3 layer paint. It is on the later yellow.

I just got them to do a touch up pot in the closest match

Probably Paul's (Fireman on a Storm) suggestion will be the best one, but it may pay to drop into Halfords if you know the name of the colour and the code as they were able to supply Red paint for mine (Italian Red, code R157) they mixed it on the premises, but I don't know if they can do the yellow :!:

Mine's a 98 yellow, the proper FireStorm colour.

It's a complete bitch to match; even the bellypan, done by Dream Machine, doesn't match exactly and it depends on the light you are under.

You can get this paint made to order - look in the back of MCN and the firm advertise, sorry I can't remember their name. Its a two pack with lacquer job. Still doesn't match though!
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
