Post by doggit »

hi all, i am due to get new tyres for the storm, but cant decide what to do either stick with battlax BT014's or try some pirelli diablos, i had diablos on my hornet last year and found them great tyres, so does anyone run on diablos and if so how does the bike handle

I've had 010s 012s and 020s on my last storm and 014s on this one. I have not had a problem with any of them. I did brands indi with a 012 front and 020 rear and had no problem with grip at all.

I switched from 010's to diablos and I've gotta say I love them

Biggest difference? The Bridgestones have a fairly stiff sidewall which dulls the feedback. They have the grip but you have to trust it rather than feel it

The Pirellis just really talk to you
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

Got BT014s on the SP1 and they are brilliant (now I got used to em). BUT the rear wears out at an alarming rate. Was going to run BT014 on front and put a BT020 on the rear, but chickened out and bought another 014. Maybe next time.

Ran D207s on the storm and never had any problems. Likewise a friend of mine has D207s on his SP1 with no problems.

Put some Avon 45/46's on. 7,000 from the rear.

No, I don't ride like Mrs Slocombe's tiddles either! Chris (Sirch) has used them as well since I first mentioned them and I think he's really pleased with them too.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Didin't know Avon still made tyres for bikes. Used to use them on my old Velo years ago.
Wonder if they still do a 21in front and a 20in rear to fit on mu old bike?

They are exactly the same size I have on the Storm.

I wonder why it felt overgeared :!:

Yes I am well pleased with the Avon 45/46 tyres that you suggested in the first place Paul. My first rear lasted over 6,000mls, I think it would have made 6,500 had I risked it, but was unsure how thick the tyre was in the center once the tread was quite low, but I needn't have worried.

Milage im not too sure, but has to be at least 3000 to 3500 out of the rear, which i reckon is pretty good on severe gearing, and front still looks fairly new.

Problem is every time i go out im doing 250 to 300 miles in a ride, and thats sometimes 3 times a week!!!!

just sat here debating wether to go finish off fitting me bike cam
