Chaps, just had my test ride today (52 plate - Red) from a dealer, just wanted to ask a couple of questions to you guys in the know.
Overall the bike was great, probably going to buy.
Temperature.
It was running at about 85C on the motorways etc, but crept up to 103C during heavy traffic/city centre. Is this normal? Not had a guage before.
Brakes.
Front brake lever felt a little sloppy (1400 miles on clock) but the adjuster wheel was on minimum setting, and lever came near to handle. Wund it back out an felt better. Is this as expected.
1st to 2nd change.
Missed it a couple of times, hit nuetral. Something to get used to? Can the lever be adjusted nearer?
Last one - Suspension
(Currently riding a Fazer600 on 17k miles), nearly came off the seat over one bump on the ride. Suspension set too hard? Whats the ride normally like. Recomended setting for a 12 stoner.
I didn't make a note of the settings after the ride.
Overall I loved the bike, need to get used to the v-twin noise/feel but great steering and very easy to manouver. Can't wait to join the club.

I have got a 2000 Storm.
Temp . About the same
Brakes . Mine feel a bit soft, on other topics people say braided hoses work wonders.
Gears. Clunk clunk they all do that sir! If you undo the lock nut on each end of the gear change rod you can lower the gear lever, this will mean you don't have to lift your foot so high, therefore you will be more positive with finding second. (there is a left hand thread on one lock nut and a right hand thread on the other.when you have them undone just turn the shaft and you will see what way the lever goes)
Suspension. Look on earlyer thread there are the performance bike setting.
If you send me your e/mail address I will send them to you.I found the front a bit hard and wound the pre load off one ring from these settings.
I can also give you the details of a place in Stanstead that will set your suspension up for you for about £30
