well done mate, it's something i've been toying with doing, but with work and living in two places at the moment it's not really practical at this point.

what did you think of the course. is it actually worth doing?

Thanks Kev,

It's well worth the effort if you can manage to fit it in,

it's quite hard work to start with, well it was for me any way, you realise how crap you are at riding a bike. there's a lot of info to take in at the begining but after about three weeks it all starts to fall into place and becomes much easier.

LOL, i know i'm crap at riding the bike already mate, thats why i've been thinking of doing it to try and re-gain a bit of confidence, i think i'm safe enough, and take up reasonable road positions, just every time i come to a bend i think of a parked tractor round it and everything goes to pot...

Well done Alan.

Kev you're right to worry about parked tractors on a bend. I came accross one about an hour ago - it was mowing grass on the verge. Managed to haul up in time, but came home to change

Wahey, another one joins the dark side!!

To anyone thats contemplating doing it I'd say just get out there and do it
And don't be put off by the age/ appearance of most of the IAM members, owning a BMW is not compulsory

Best thing about it for me was that if a ride out was arranged for a certain day you went regardless of weather.
Now I really enjoy riding in the rain coz I had a fair bit of practice and its improved my riding a fair bit
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

Hi Garry,

It shouldn't be a problem, most IAM groups meet every week or two weeks, but you go when you can, I started in July. Look up your local group and give them a ring.

Just a thought some groups only do cars, have a look on the net it shows what groups do what.

If you want to improve your riding, go for it.

Yes - Well done. I'm an Associate at Redditch AMG and I hope to do my test earlyish in the New Year. It is worth doing IMHO.
