noisy engine

I have a stage 3 tuned Moriwaki VTR and it is a bit sick!
I suddenly lost power at Snetterton race track and it developed a clatter coming from the front cylinder. The bike ticks over ok but the clatter starts as the revs rise. I have had the head off and it seems ok. Any ideas?

If all seems well up top then I would say it sounds like ether you ends are shot or you have piston slap(but this normally causes oil burn ie blue smoke out of the cans)due to the rings being shot.

would piston slap suddenly happen and loss power instantly?
ends may have gone? over reved it missing 3rd gear twice!

That all depends on the wear and tear thats already there,best way to check is to turn the engine over(BY HAND)and inspect the bore for scrapes and marks,also I drop the oil and strain it to look for metal bits as this is a good sign that the ends have gone(bronze or white metal flakes).
