hi
i need to extend my battery cables a few inches and was wondering if i need the same sort of cable already fitted to the bike or can i use a thinner diameter of cable, which would be easier to find and be more flexible.
thanks

I would agree with Squiffy, stick with the same thickness cables most definitely, the Storm is a big twin cylinder engine to crank over, and will need to draw maximum amps from the battery to turn it over, with thinner cables it won't be able to do thatSquiffythewombat wrote:Mark, the thickness of a cable determines its resitance so i would stick with the same gauge if i was you!
(or till somebody more knowledable than me can explain it propperly)

aye up squiff, not to far off there matey.
the reason the battery cable is that guage is becuase of the ampage thats drawn to fire the bike (ever seen the sparks the connectors make?)
anyhoo there isnt really enough length of that cable to get a dissernable reading in ohms, youd probably only get a couple of ohms drop over 50 - 100 metres of that stuff.
just a quik question? why do you want to extend the battery cables sean?

4 cyl = 2ltr , 2 cyl = 1ltr it's all relative.
