burnt clutch

Post by dutchy »

Hope someone can help me. I have a 98 Firestorm and have done about 8000 miles in the last year. It never felt smooth on the clutch and it got worse over time. Last weekend I decided to strip the clutch and found it completely dry on the inside, the plates look like they have been hot. I suspect that there is an oil flow problem to the clutch (there was oil on the camshafts when I checked the valve clearance a few months ago). Anyone experienced the same problem? Any advice?
Cheers

Stating the bleeding obvious, but what level is the oil at in the sight glass NOW?

Well at the moment there is no oil in the engine. I check the oil on a regular basis, also the clutch does not seem to hang in the oil. What i meant with the camshaft were oily is that I don't think there is an oil pressure issue.
I think this might just be a freak occurance in a normally bullet proof honda engine.

Maybe someone out there has an oil diagram so I can see where it might be blocked.

by the way I have a TDM as well so also 4 cylinders and 18 valves :D

That's at least three of us then! Cupasoop has a TDM too. I'll have a look at my Haynes manual and see if I can glean anything from it. Do the clutch plates look like they were ever in oil?
