Bellypan an insurance no no.

Post by yellowtrev »

Fitted new end cans on the bike and i am about to fit a Pyramid bellypan.

Thought i would play by the rules and let the insurers know.

Phoned Bennetts and guess what?

Not bothered about the cans but the underwriters were not happy about the bellypan and refused to accept it. :x

I can't understand it,a bellypan is cosmetic not performance enhancing :x

This now means i ;

1, don't fit the bellypan :x
or
2, change the underwriters at an admin cost of £30 :x
or
3, cancel my policy and pay an early cancellation fee of £30 :x
or
4, fit the bellypan, b**locks to them and only tell them when the policy is up for renewal in June :D

Hmmnn, tricky one, that'll be option 4 for me then :D

Or you could go to ebike insurance and get it at nearly half the price

There's a link on my site here

Never heard of a bellypan causing trouble though - did they know what it was?

Probably they thought it was a mod to hold up YOUR belly which equals overweight so you are then more of a liabilty on a bike? 8O

Does seem strange as only a cosmetic alteration. Ask the woman at Bennetts (I am assuming here!) on the end of the 'phone if her car insurance goes up if she wears make-up!!!!!!
