CDI Unit - Help

Post by jurgen »

Hi all

Just a quick question, if the CDI unit stops working, is it a case that it doesn't work, or can it be intermitant? Ie the problem comes and goes very quickly?

Storm is poorley!! Thinking about throwing in the bin..huff :-(

Cheers

Is moisture getting into it? My SP was very sick the other week when water got into the CDI and caused misfires and allsorts. Although i wouldn't see it being intermittent unless you keep going out in the rain or washing it lots. There was also something onhere a while back about alternator covers being cracked and causing misfires, someone else might be ab le to help.

Don't think it's due to moisture as it's been in the garage for 3 weeks now.

I found that i had a wire which snaped on it, which was the one which connected to the front Ignistion coil, had tried to patch this together as best i can. Finally i've got the front one working but i think the rear cable might be playing up, but i thought i would check if the CDI itself could be at fault as i can see no obvious sign of another wire being on the way out.

I'm thinking of changing the look as i've found on ebay for a good price.

Really miffed i just want to ride my bike...i miss it :-(

Thanks for the suggestion though :-)
