Sad farewell to my VTR

Hi to all on the VTR forum,

After much debating and with a sad heart I have parted with my lovely Red VTR.

Part ex-ed for a another bike on Saturday.

I travel a fair distance on my bike and could no longer take any more discomfort. (Mainly a numb right hand after about the first 25 miles!).

I would like to thank all those in this forum for there help and advice over the past few months. Your a great bunch of guys (and girls, sorry Kaz!)

Just what is it with all this talk (here and other posts) about the Storm being uncomfortable? (Nothing personal Chris) I'm an old fart, with arthritic issues in wrists and knees, yet I've commuted every day on it and ridden it 2000 miles to south of France and back. It's a sports-tourer for heaven's sake - the seat's fairly comfy and the bars aren't that low. My SV is definitely more radical in the elbow and wrist department, but I still think of it as a sports tourer (260 miles the other day). You're all a load of wusses.

(I still couldn't hack it on an SP though

My new bike is a 1999 TDM 850

Don't have a piccy yet but very similar to this

Came with full givi wing rack, top box, lower fairing, nexxus stainless exhausts and Scot oiler.

Would have kept the 2 bikes one for local one for distance, but financial constraints didn't permit

Getting happier.

Believe it or not chris, a few weeks ago i finally clicked with it. I've spent the last year riding it like all the sports bikes i've had before and not really getting on with it. Once I stopped trying to ride it like a front endy sports bike and just throw the bugger into the corners, now it makes sense

The comfy seat and 200 mile tank range is nice also

I have a TDM900 too (glad I still have the Storm though) and the 200 mile plus tanj range @ 55 to the gallon, plus a great riding position are fantastic for the long rides.

However, my elbow goes numb on the TDM long before it ever does on the Storm!
