Westco Battery?

Post by goffy »

I have just bought a pre crashed 97 VTR and as well as the obvious broken/bent bits it needs a new battery. I am keen to get a Westco unit as I already have one in my Falco and it's very impressive, but I have concerns that the very fancy VTR battery cover may not fit over the Westco because the battery top is a different shape.

Has anyone fitted a Westco to their VTR?

Or will I be better just getting a Yuasa and quit messing about?

Any wisdom gratefully received.

Cheers, Goffy.

Welcome aboard Goffy :!: :D

Normally an original equipment Yuasa battery is a very good battery. My Yuasa lasted almost 7yrs although I don't do many short trips, so that probably helped. You get what you pay for though, a cheaper battery that will most likely be about half the price of the Yuasa, imo will most definitely have a shorter life :!:

I can't really help you with the Westco battery question regarding the top of the battery box. But as the Storm really needs all the umph from the battery it can get, especially in the colder months to get it started from cold, the Westco seems like a very good idea to me :!: Perhaps it's possible to modify the battery box top :!:

Thanks for that Chris, at the mo' the VTR has my old Falco Yuasa battery in it!
Seems to work perfectly well but it is much taller than the VTR one and it was 6 years old and past it's best when I took it out of the Aprilia.
Perhaps I should have a little play about with the Falcos Westco and the VTR battery cover?
