On my first storm ('97) the fuel tap was fitted to the tank and wouldn't leak due to the vacuum pipe, so I assumed (first mistake) that the same set-up applied and just lifted the tank and pulled the pipes. When I finally got the tank off with my thumb over the fitting it seems the clever Japanese chaps have moved the tap to the frame where it splits to the carbs, and have a free-flowing elbow out of the bottom of the tank.
Have I missed some secret fuel cut-off device or is this a shite design, and if so has anyone else been caught?
