Clocks problem

Post by Kitch »

VTR Firestorm Clocks/ Electrical Problem?

A friends VTR 1000 Firestorm year 2002 has speedo problems. The Speedo and odometer does not work, the rev counter and warning lights (indicators etc) all work ok. The speedo does not work at all and the odometer has a blank screen.

He has checked the connections on the clock and all the fuses - all ok. He is not sure where the speedo reads from - front sprocket? Obviously not checked.

He is reluctant to buy new clocks incase the problem is some where else.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Kitch, I know my bike is the earlier model, but the speedo picks up from the back of the gearbox, near the rear CCT, I would have thought your mates later model would be the same :!:

My speedo stopped registering the speed. The odo still displayed the mileage but no speed registration. I checked all the wiring and found a loose corroded connection on the main dash loom.

If you've got nothing at all then I'd check that your getting a feed to the speedo, red wire on the rear, and that the sensor is working. Plug conector under the seat. It should show a fluctuating voltage between 0-+5v

Sounds more like a wiring fault than anything else . If not try these people. http://www.dashtronics.com/documents/23.html
