Double Bubble

Post by Mr Fluffy »

Hi all,

I'm the proud new owner of an 02 'storm (and loving it)

Only thing I'm not really happy with is the feeling of my helmet being tried to be ripped up and off by the rush of oncoming air over the pitiful fairing.

Where could I source a double bubble doo dah that some of you guys and gals would recommend and that comes at a reasonable price (I've seen them for £100+ on t'internet - don't know whether that's pricey or not). Looking for a hopefully cheap deal as I'm already making the wife twitchy with what I'm spending :)

I'm from just north of Basingstoke so a retailer close by or on online jobbie I'm not too fussed tbh.

Cheers.

Ebay is the best place for these things, at least in my experience:

Depends on your height this one!!!

I'm 6' 2" tall and the first VTR I had had a double bubble. Thought it good etc and 'must' be better than the std issue (it came with the bike). Then when I got the new VTR thought I must change the std profile screen for a DB when I can but ride it and enjoy it as is for now. Surprise!
I found the std screen did push more air back onto my chest/helmet area but it supported the weight better which gave less right wrist ache (its been broken three times) than I experienced before on motorways/dual carriageways etc. Must be the body being pushed up and back that helps.
Mr Honda ain't totally daft. Guess if you're a shortie it might not matter, but I'm staying with the std issue profile (but mine is a dark smoke copy).

I'm 5ft 7 an A HALF inches (mustn't forget the half inch you know) and the double bubble is great for me as it pushes the air to the right place. If you are 6 ft 2 then I could see whi it wouldn't work.

On my TDM a bought a Givi touring screen but resold it quite soon as it pushed the air to the wrong place and I got a lot of turbulence. I have reverted to the standard screen.

Just goes to show, you have to experiment with these things :)

I used to long t5o be about 6'2/6'3, but I now realise that I can sleep in my bed without having to curl up or go diagonal, fit in my bath and not get cramped legs on the train or plane
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
