USD Forks and Ohlins - Taste the difference

Post by jay-storm »

I've just spent the last two days wearing out the tryres and my sliders riding my new purchase.

I recently picked up my third Firestorm, the first was a streetfighter which was great fun and the second a standard model with a few suspension mods (rear Nitron and forks upgraded by Revolution )

But then I came across a 99 Castrol rep on ebay. It has a Blade 929 front end and an Ohlins rear shock. I had to have it and what can I say - It's like a completely different bike. It handles like my '03 ZX6R, it's bloody awesome. I couldn't believe how good the bike feels totally planted mid corner, knee down everywhere. I now need to get myself booked on a track day before the summer (?) ends.

So, if anyone is thinking of upgrading their suspension I say go the whole hog and get a blade F.E , a quality rear shock and release your bikes true potential !

As you can see I'm quite pleased with my new acquisition !

I've not done the conversion myself, but have spent sometime gathering info on this very conversion from different sites and from Alan on this forum :!:

I can tell you though that it's not a straight forward swap over. There is quite a bit involved to do this conversion :!: But if you're mechanically minded and up for a challenge then I see no reason why you can't do it :!:

If you use the search function and type in blade or forks then you should find loads of topics on this!
