paddock stand bobbins

hi guys.....i want to put some paddock stand bobbins on my firestorm but i dont seem to be able to find the tapped lugs to screw them into on the swing arm.....can anyone help and tell me where they put theres .....do i have to weld them on ?or drill into the swing arm? someone in this day and age must know........still find that two are better than four !!!!!!!

These are the said bobbins. They, along with the hook paddock stand replacements, were bought off of eBay.

Above is the right side and below is the left side view

I fitted these as the conventional rectangular rubber lined paddock stand receptacles are:- a) difficult to see if you have them in the right place while you are trying to balance the bike and get it on the p/stand alone and, b) saves removing my ScottOiler delivery pipe everytime I want to use the p/stand.

Position of bobbins.
I set mine up at 105mm from the very end of the swing arm and 20mm up from the underside. I drilled a pilot hole then drilled and tapped it suitable for the bobbin fixing countersunk socket (allen key) bolt. This thread is 8mm. Fixed them in with loctite thread lock.

Result.
A much easier and safer one person lift and no crushed/disturbed ScottOiler pipe!!!!

just curious.....is it ok/safe to drill holes in your swing arm??....i wouldnt mind a set myself but would be dubious if i had to do that

Pefectly safe. I wouldn't have done it otherwise!!!!!

The aluminium is not weakened etc and you are 'filling' the tapped hole with a steel bolt so no big deal.
Think about the holes where the rear brake clips go etc. yeah? Screws etc so 'my' bolts are fine.
Love how easy it is to get it up now (ooh err missus)!

Not too expensive SFM and I have to say it is a great mod. One of the best I've done to the 'Storm and I've done a few I can tell you! Works well and if on your own all that balancing antics from the transition of sidestand to upright if not totally easy is at least 500% better! Reason is that you don't really have to concentrate on the paddock stand channels being in the right place on the swing arm. The hooks are far easier to see and align.
