Re: Lean angle
Don't forget that in a corner the rear tyre also has to cope with the application of power as well as cornering force. This extra load causes the tyre to distort more which also contributed to the amount of chicken strip. This is borne out (maybe) by the fact that on track, where I was leading the f...

Re: Trail Braking
Geometry I figured.
I never actually measured the actual differences but I'm guessing as the forks were shorter the rake angle was less.
But it may equally have been if the fork offset was less on the Blade yoke that the trail was less
But whatever the reason it was a night and day difference

Re: Abstract torque
.This is an unusual way of looking at things. Power is a product of torque (a rotational force) and engine revs (a rotational speed). <Pedant mode on> Its a chicken and egg thing, you can calculate torque from power Torque (lb.in) = 63,025 x Power (HP) / Speed (RPM) Or power from torque Power (HP) ...

Re: Jump start
Am I being thicky here?
If the battery negative is attached to that bolt on the engine anyway, why wouldn't you just attach the negative to the battery negative?
Its not like the bike is actually earthed anyway as last time I checked two big rubber hoops dont conduct electricity that well!!

Re: Abstract torque
Simply put, torque is rate of change of power If the power curve is getting steeper the torque will be rising, when the rate the power increases slows down the torque curve dips It is the SHAPE of the curve that is important and will relate to what you feel when riding, the numbers themselves are on...

Re: Trail Braking
To my mind trail braking to the apex is very much a performance technique and by and large I would advocate restricting its usage to either track use or your favourite piece of road. It is simply a method of shifting the braking phase of corner entry deeper into the corner This, to my mind, is most ...

Re: new tyres :)
MY two penneth I fitted a set of Pirelli Angel STs April last year and cannot recommend them highly enough (eventually! :D ) Good price, good longevity, really good grip and feedback in both wet and dry The reason for the 'eventually' was that, coming off a reasonably flat spotted pair of BT-14s the...

Martin:
I'm of the opinion that those intakes are purely cosmetic -the radiators take their air from behind the front wheel.
Chris,
How do fella, it has indeed been a while.

Re: indicators
I had the teardrops ones on my Storm, they were ok but you had to drill two mounting holes front and aft, and they didn't sit properly flat on the fairing. Afternoon Tony (voice from the past here!) I have those same teardrop ones but have no issue with them HOWEVER I did spend a bit of time gettin...

Re: Fork air gap query
Thanks for all the assistance guys, especially Tony Your advice WILL actually be taken, but just not this week as I needed to get it sorted before heading abroad at the weekend (nothing like leaving it til the last minute eh 8O ) However in this case I took a view and set the air gap to 145mm with 5...

Re: Fork air gap query
Hi Tony, Cheers for that, interesting you went for MORE air gap than stock, was that with std springs? Reason for query is if for example you have 140mm gap without springs and you then insert std springs they will obviously displace some oil so the air gap will reduce to sat 120mm The gauge of the ...

Fork air gap query
Evening all, long time no post so I figured I'd try and make it a good one :D Currently in the process of replacing the oil in the forks The usual directions for amount of oil are either volume (448cc ±2) Or distance from fork top with leg compressed and spring removed (130mm) However I have some di...

Tony,
Funny you should mention that, a while ago I picked up a spare cover with the intention of making something similar to the Coerce one
Its still in the 'projects' cupboard in the garage
