I am posting this for my son madmanbeavis (lol) - he likes a rideout but works shifts. Perhaps one week end when he is off meet up for a ride over Dartmoor...?? I have a deauville...still gutsy though :lol:

Have fitted brand new regulator /rectifier...so thats eliminated - even with old regulator it was charging with no lights and when had lights on the battery would discharge slowly over a period of MONTHS...not days. The charge simply dies away with lights on when engine revs are above tick over - on...

OK - where's the best place for a stator then guys?

Just off that when I put lights on the battery is charging and as revs increase, the charge rate dies off. Never ever heard of that before.

Battery is fine - holding charge - starts just fine. Note - the rectifier was not overheating - new rectifier from ebay is charging battery correctly on higher revs but when lights are put on - if on tick over its just fine but as revs increase the charge tails off to next to nothing. Had bike about 3 months now - had already a few mods on it - has a lovely blue flame pair of cans. Looks as though the suspension spring has been upgraded. Immaculate condition for year.

charging problem

I have replaced the rectifier as its a common problem - was undercharging. No lights on charges properly. With lights on charges properly on tick over but as revs are increased the charge dies away so that its just 12v. Has anyone got an explanation of this and what needs to be done please to rectif...
