Re: Loving my new toy

Good idea. The neighbours would definately hear three of us coming! I went to Bently for the first time on wednesday. Also first time riding in a group. It was a bit quick for me to be honest. Still taking it quite steady. Haven't got the hang of this overtaking lark yet. Need to stop riding like I...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Just remember kids. If you don't take your disc lock off, you end up with a disc that looks like this: http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p581/realtankslappa/IMG_20120630_022238Small.jpg This will result in your bike looking like this: http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p581/realtankslappa/IMG_201...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Well done mate, just got to bed the new pads in and you will be rockin n rollin again. :Rock1: No point getting another disc lock really, if it broke that easily. (:-}) Yeah, I know... It's just the visual deterrent I like. I don't really want to go carrying my chain and lock round all the t...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

LOL! New discs are on! Yay! Shiny! Gotta do the pads now, which is gonna mean draining some of that lovely new brake fluid (cos there's gonna be too much when I push the pistons back. D'oh! Don't suck too hard.... LOL! Actually, I was very careful... One side at a time, and after finishing one, I p...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Well if you pick a fairly modern car the speedo should be still as specced. If the modern car happens to be a Merc, you know there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that he'll be going any slower than he really needs to! And yes, big box turned up this morning. New discs and pads to go on tonight. C...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Surely the time to calibrate your eye is to use the speed camera... If someone slows down for a camera in front of you, pace them, and you know you're doing exactly 30mph according to the car's speedo.

Then get the marker pen out :D

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Cheeky sod! Good idea though. Just tried taking a picture on the phone. It's okay, but I think I'll be able to take a better picture during the week with the big camera when I have the wheel off. Just gotta wait for my parcel to arrive now. Went shopping at David Silver (thanks for the link Wicky), ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

If nothing else, I should have put it as close to the calliper as possible instead of at the front, that way the bike wouldn't have had time to build up speed (and momentum) before the inevitable happened!

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

It broke the lock apart too! So much for a thatcham approved disc-lock, a thief could do exactly the same to get it off.

Obviously he's die at the first junction when the brakes didn't work, which is just desserts.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

I did it in front of 4 girls!

TBH, if they hadn't been there, I might not have attempted such a sharp pull away.

On the plus side, at least there was someone to help lift the bike off me! Yes, I was laying under it, trying to reduce damage!

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Cheers wicky. I saw those 3 on ebay already. Not sure about the second set, they don't seem to be the same spoke design as mine... plus they look a bit ropey. About the David Silver ones, are they original? I'm quite happy with the original brakes, but trying to find a set of original spec and look ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Not having a good day either... Had a nice ride into work today, then when I went to leave work this evening I forgot to take the disc lock off. wombles! Bike went over. Got away pretty lucky (thanks to those indestructible standard cans), slightly squashed indicator, scratched mirror, nothing to wo...
