Re: This winter's rebuild and mods

Hi Very ambitous and inspiring.............. Excuse my ignorance, , but why not get a SP1 motor with associated parts and fit that ? Cheers Matt Cuz, you'd have to re weld the entire frame to get it to fit in there... Not even close to the same dimensions either way...

Re: Air Filter question.

My BMC street filter is as of now running with an air dam... It's resulted in noticeable better fueling, with fewer dips all over the rev range... Same as the K&N... Been doing that for a fair while... Basically, swapping in the K&N filter part in the OEM filter is a waste of time and effort...

Re: Air Filter question.

Not at all stupid... It's in fact one of those things that I have tried, and stuck the bike on the dyno to verify that it improves the fueling noticeably and measurably on the K&N filter... I still don't like the K&N filter at all though, as after countless hours, I still either get a big na...

Nope... Not annoy... That's not the right word at all... There are times when a swift stroke with a cast iron pan over the head is apropriorate....

Re: fuel tank

You need to swap over the petcock, and mount for it, as the 19L has the petcock mounted to the frame, not the bottom of the tank... And you may want to fiddle with the fuel level sender, or RLOD sensor, but that's fairly optional... Other than that, it's a straight swap... It's shaped slightly diffe...

Re: Forgive me if I haven't looked properly, but...

Full fat version certainly messes with the fueling, big time... It's essentially removing more than half of the back pressure from the chamber system, since you are more or less running an open pipe that exits into the larger exhaust body, acting like an echo chamber really, more than an silencer......

Re: Electrics help req...

Thanks macdee. I want to learn electrics but need to start with simple as words don't sink in. I have to have the object there to make any sense. I'll give you an even simpler answer... Can I add a little advice though? To make life easier in oh say 13 months or so, when it's been on you...

Re: Petrol stabilisers.. bike storage in Winter

i think you can buy a zinc pellet which helps it just sits inside the tank i need to read up on this again you could clamp the petrol pipe then run the bike til the carbs are empty  Yeah, to stop the carbs gumming up, just clamp the pipes, or even shut off the petcock, and run the bike unt...

Re: Vinyl Wrap quote...

A pin prick, and a dab with the heat gun as you work the air out, and it's impossible to spot afterwards... Haven't tried the hypodermic needle trick really, so can't say on that... Jamie, my idea was you could go for a totally own color scheme, not a race rep scheme... Just make it multicolor, or l...

Re: Vinyl Wrap quote...

Cheers for the ideas, however I'm stupid and have ordered a small sheet of vinyl to see how tricky it is! :) Sent from my GT-19505 using Telekinesis Well, that's a start of a plan at least... And keep in mind, making a uniform wrap over a full surface is usually more tricky than adding vinyl decals...

Re: Electrics help req...

Good info in this thread, all very valid points. Chris where have you taken your feeds from. Just trying to work out how you have wired it all up and what other circuits are inked into it. Yeh wires close to HT leads could have an effect and is something to rule out if you have wires running...

Re: Electrics help req...

The feeds came from the standard wiring harness for the headlight back to relays which I located under the seat. These were both earthed and linked to the battery then the witres were run back down the bike to a ceramic bulb holder for the uprated headlight. The r/r is a fined copy so not a genuine...

than the R/R, and the only way a bulb will blow like that, is grease/bad bulb, short and over voltage... There are no other ways... Re: rectifier

About 14.8 V is "normal", 15 is high, anything above 15.4 is bad, and seeing 15 or above on a regular basis is cause for concern... "Hot" is a question of definition really... Normal is "ouch" if you hold it, but touching it is sort of OK, just not that fun... The falla...
