finally did my CCT's and R/R
the first thing i read about the storm on here was to change out the CCT's and R/R. even after my R/R failed last year, i replaced it with a finned non mosfet R/R. but this past week i FINALLY headed the warnings and installed ZX-14 mosfet R/R. and then last night i put in a set of APE manual CCT's....

Re: which reg/rec to buy?
i wouldnt get the CBR125 unit because its still a crappy shunt based unit which will eventually fail just the storms OEM unit. Agree but an R1, CBR or equivalent non MOSFET type is a step up, or should I say, step in the right direction from the original non finned VTR one. It depends on how much o...

Re: opinions on wave rotors
I'm really just wondering what the science behind them is.
I have a galfer wave on the rear because my old rotor was toast. I'm not gonna spend $500 or more for the front even tho they look cool

So you don't think it does much in terms of cooling?

Re: which reg/rec to buy?
The one I have is pretty large too. Prolly about the same size, only attaching at the top bolt. Just barley fits inside but that's a lot more surface area for cooling. I used spade connectors for now but I'm gonna get a set of actual connectors from eastern beaver so everything is kosher.

Re: which reg/rec to buy?
i wouldnt get the CBR125 unit because its still a crappy shunt based unit which will eventually fail just the storms OEM unit. the shunt based units run REALLLYYYYY hot and eventually burn themselves out. what you really want is a MOSFET R/R. i just installed one last week. all thats involved is cut...

Re: Wire wheels
can spoked wheels take the large lateral forces during corning at high lean angles? i know super-motos have them but those things weigh next to nothing compared to the hawk or any other street bike. plus youve got to make sure they are always true'd.

Re: Best way to sort fairing
If it was me I'd get a set of chinesse fairings off ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Addmotor-For-Fairings-VTR1000-VTR-1000-97-05-1997-2005-Silver-H1730-Lever-/271400821074?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item3f30bfe152 fortunately I'm not bothered that my fairings are completely fooked  +1 ...

Re: Has anyone fit....
i highly recomend a USD swap. really what i recomend is a full front end swap. i went with the RC51 front end and you get a much more rigid, planted front end, with a much better brake package as well. veryyyy good mod for the storm. what alot of people over look when they say "just revalve and...

Re: 190 rear tyre
if there's enough grip for Ali, then there's enough grip for anyone else on this forum! i disagree, the PR series is a touring tire. not a performace/ hyper-sport tire. thats why i run the PP3's for street. loads of millage. still on my first set which has lasted to longer than 2-3 sets of Q3's las...

oooooo idk if im trusting enough to let any of my mates ride one of my bikes on the track. specially if its their first track day too. but should be a blast. so cool that all you guys over there are doing track days at BSB circuits. i couldnt help but pretend im half a second off Josh brookes battli...

opinions on wave rotors
galfer or the like.. ive read that they can cause vibrations and other problems. from what i understand the wave pattern is for cooling purposes but ive also had people tell me it provides a dampening effect on braking, giving good feel at the lever. thinking about putting one at least on the rear a...

Re: 190 rear tyre
first off i run Q3's at the track. amazing tire. second for something with loads of grip but high millage get the michelin pilot POWER 3's. pilot roads are a sport touring tire and dont offer much grip. as for the 190 tire... ive been runing a 190/55 for my last 5 or 6 sets of tires and kinda just g...

Re: Snetterton 22/3/14 - never done a track day before
i did my first track day out at buttonwillow raceway here in CA last month and boy was it a BLAST. I was unsure how the storm would take to the track but she handled great. theres no db limit there so i didnt have to worry about that. i started in C group(beginners) but 2 sessions in and they moved ...
