Re: Are We All Balancing our Carbs Wrong

So why would the manual even mention the front carb being the base carb which suggests they are to be different. Interesting that the Carbtune site mentions within 20mm Hg but I think that is a generalisation as most bikes (mainly IIL4s) would be the same balanced across the board evenly and would ...

Re: Are We All Balancing our Carbs Wrong

Guys, re read the carb synchronisation bit in the factory manual. IMHO it should be 20mm Hg or 0.8 inch Hg difference, not that the rear has to be pulling more than the front. Verbatim:- Carburetor Vacuum Difference: 20mm Hg (0.8 inch) no where does it say to make the rear cylinder have a higher va...

Re: Rear shock

Mine is shot - any suggestions for something suitable for my cheap track bike please? So far the Nitron 'track' looks about right. Also has anyone looked at fitting a shock from another model? Thanks, Mark I got mine from http://www.motorcycle-road-and-race.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?make=hon...

Re: Linkage Bearings

Hi, Took the Hound for a shake-down ride yesterday and the rear suspension is deffo knackered. It's on the lowest preload setting and the rear is rock hard so guess I might as well get the linkage stripped and the pivot bearings replaced. Also replace the shock. Priced up the bearings using Kit's h...

Re: help me troubleshoot my Storm

The R/R is definitely suspect as 12-13v is not enough especially while running. Even though your getting the green light on the charger the battery may not be holding a charge under load, so this is suspect. Be aware that either a faulty battery or R/R can take out one or the other. If a new R/R is...

Re: help me troubleshoot my Storm

I charged the battery with an Optimate and got a green light. The voltage was something like 12.3v across the terminals. I'm running total loss at the moment and my new reg/rec is due here tomorrow, so I can go back to a charging system. I've cleaned allthe multiplugs behind the tank and behind the...

Re: Fuel consumption on a 98 storm

I get a worse of 10km/L and best of 15.6km/L which translate to 30MPG to 44MPG thats UK Gallons or 25MPG to 36.8MPG in US Gallons.

Choose your poison.

Re: Something wrong when excelerating in first

It could be the fuel tank breather. Ifuel demands are higher at sustained high revs ie first gear and if the breather pipe is constricted , partial vacuum in the fuel tank would restrict fuel flow into the carbs. Leading to fuel starvation as your carb leans out due to falling fuel in the carb bowl...
