Re: CCT change and engine dies after 4-5 minutes
Hi Guys Thanks for the feedback, did a check of all the hoses and true enough I connected the vac hose wrong. Connected it to the petcock down pipe instead of the vacuum valve which is at the back and towards the 9 o'clock position when looking from the front. She is revving like a champ now. :thumb...

Checked the valve clearances and only the front 2 exhausts valves and the left front intake valves need adjusting as they were all tight and below tolerance. Put everything back together, checked cam timings - o...

Re: Paw print
kit, can you estimate the weight of the cat by the viscosity of the mud times the depth of the impression divided by the speed of running? :D AMcQ, actually yes that is possible. assuming that the mud has not dried too much as when the paw print was made. just put a known weight on the mud, measure...

Re: Compression testing advice
From what I've read compression testing should be done when the engine is warm, but can effective results be had from a cold engine though? I'm being lazy really as I don't want to build my bike back up to find I've got to stop it back down again to resolve any issue. Warming up the engine is to im...

how do you grind them by hand and still ensure that the shims are tolerably flat?darkember wrote:Usually you will find them on the tight side. Just grind them down by hand to the center of the range & you will never have to do them again.

Re: Mileage before valves need adjusting
Yep every 16000 miles unless you have had some head work done that requires them being done. or just want to check them for peace of mind. If they have not been checked since owning the bike then it's always a good idea to check them so you at least know where the bike stands maintenance wise. Is t...
