It was opening but at around 100 - 105 C, So the bike was not overheating (but the scoot was at max on the gauge, so probs not good) i have removed it and the bike runs fine, maybe a little cold due to the cold weather but i guess ...

ok well i started her up again and started tapping at the thermostat to see if that would move it if it was stuck. Ok so put a new starter and fixed all the problems. Took the old one apart to see what was wrong with it. Previous owner must have stripped it down and broken something as he tried gluing the thing back together. Water must have got in as the "glue" is not as good as a rubber seal and the positive ...
