Re: Nice, quiet motorbikles

As MacV2 says, on an open road or a motorway like the M2 (know it well, old Gravesend lad here) I don't think noise helps very much. But, trickling through town I think it does. I use a blip of the throttle (straight through Harpoon cans) to get people's attention and it seems to work.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

My bobbins move! WOOHOO!! - Excellent news that you've got movement. They may need going over again (have a rest for a day, then go do 'em again!). You'll find afterwards, that the feel through braking is 100% better. You don't get juddering through the bars, and you're saving the discs from ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

My bobbins move! I can't move them with my fingers and the disk doesn't flop around as per the video but they move easily with a small spanner on the bolt. Will test brake grab and report back.

Re: LH grip came loose. There's a hole in the clipon.

Well, I've been running the bike without any bar weights at all and haven't noticed any vibration through the bars. So, I'm not going to try and fit any.

They don't seem to be needed to kill vibration. Useful in a drop so I suppose I had better avoid that....

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

WD40? For the love of god man! Yer kidding? yeah, go on, you ARE aren't you. 8O If yer gonna flush out with brake cleaner afterwards, then just use brake cleaner in the bobbins to start with (yay? nay?). That way, you don't have to worry about if it gets on yer calipers/pads/etc. Be careful with ...

Loosen/crack the axle bolt, the pinch bolts & the calliper mount bolts first before you lift it ! If you can use a couple of ratchet straps one each side, out side ways to anchor the bike left & right... What type of jack is it ? Trolly, bottle or scissor ? Either way use your rear padock stand ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

I gave it a clean.....

But, what I want to do is get the front wheel out. The front brakes are a litle grabby but I only have front and read paddock stands and no rafters (or pool steps) to sling the front off the ground.

Question: With a timber packer is it safe to put a jack under the sump?

It's only a flap that bolts on to the subframe (£10-15) - alternative is to fit a combined hugger/chain guard. http://www.ronayersmotorcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=2506393&category=Motorcycles&make=Honda&year=2000&fveh=132082 copy & paste the part no.s in David Silvers find by part ...

Re: LH grip came loose. There's a hole in the clipon.

This should help too. A PDF on how to remove the clip on bar end weights, dampers, anti-vibration weights, whatever you like to call them. http://www.manicsalamander.com/media/5191/honda_6mm_damper_removal.pdf Note that similar anti vibration damper weights are also fitted inside the tubes on the ...
