Re: VTRNZ
Well it's been a while since I updated. More family trauma, another house move and a month of lockdown have got in the way a bit, not to mention it's now winter here in NZ. But I have been busy and yon beastie is nearly ready for paint! Stay tuned.....

New Podcast
A few weeks ago I had the fam round for dinner & drinkies, and we got reminiscing about funny motoring and motorcycling related stories that had happened to us. By the end of the evening we were all crying with laughter and my son-in-law said, "We should record this stuff - it's comedy gold...

Because of atrocities such as this: https://i.postimg.cc/jWqnwPv2/IMG-5632.jpg and these: https://i.postimg.cc/CzV1nbx0/IMG-5633.jpg I've now got this: https://i.postimg.cc/QFCrFM1s/IMG-5634.jpg Waiting in the wings (or more accurately on the shelf) to be fitted. Having modified the seat to suit my ...

Re: VTRNZ
As mentioned previously, the wiring loom on the bike was in an abysmal state. It's a wonder it ever ran. I'm not shy of making/sorting wiring looms, but in a recent alcohol-fuelled browsing of 'a local auction site' I came across an ad for a complete VTR wiring loom, unmolested and intact for just $...

Re: VTRNZ
Started on the exhaust. With the help of a couple of these: https://i.postimg.cc/0zwFNkq4/IMG-5353.jpg I came up with this: https://i.postimg.cc/WdLSX0Q9/IMG-5349.jpg Which looked OK until viewed from the top where..... https://i.postimg.cc/479mLhC5/IMG-5350.jpg It kicked out like a dogs hind leg. Re: VTRNZ
After a bit of sanding and a dusting of primer the seat unit is now Carlos and not South of Guildford. Eagle-eyed readers will notice that the top and bottom of the seat unit were not welded down the sides. The reason is: https://i.postimg.cc/HVZngznq/IMG-5308.jpg With a bit of mesh (liberated from ...

Underseat part 4
Time to get the hoses pointing in the right direction. Top hose was easy, take the thermostat housing: https://i.postimg.cc/212rLtg7/IMG-5295.jpg And turn it round 180 degrees! The bolt pattern is symmetrical so it's a straight turn around. The other bit of luck is the original short bottom hose has...

Somewhere to sit
The seat base is made from the front half of the 'Storm seat base with an aluminium construction riveted to it. https://i.postimg.cc/LJN3byNd/IMG-5277.jpg I've tried to fill up the 'gaps' between the original seat line and the Fireblade seat unit by extending the bottom skirt down. These will need r...

Re: Stormless - for now!
A friend had one of those in the early 90's.
Great bike. Coming from smaller bikes (at the time) I thought it was absolutely superb, and without doubt the best handling bike I'd ridden to that point.
Enjoy!

Re: VTRNZ
More welding and mods to the rear subframe last night. It's nearly finished. You'll be impressed! Ordered a couple of Stainless bends for the exhausts which should be here early next week. And this arrived today. A whole $10NZ and the solution to one of the cooling system problems! https://i.postimg...
Re: Wiring
Yep, I'm returning it to standard. Already have new (correct) connector blocks and a fresh soldering iron!
