Re: Radiator fan running constantly

which of the two sensors on the thermostat feed the dash temperature gauge? The green connection or the small probe below? As far as I can tell they are both temp sensors?

cheers

Re: Radiator fan running constantly

so on a standard vtr the temperature switch on the radiator itself is what completes the circuit for the fan motor? Or the thermostat? I have replaced the thermostat and no change, tried closing the circuit from the green sensor which connects to the thermostat (assuming its another temp sensor ...

Radiator fan running constantly

Anyone suggest any obvious problems with having a radiator fan running permanently on a vtr1000 motor? It's installed in a buggy, so has an oversized rad and fan (about 40cm x 40cm) or 16"x16"! I'm having trouble getting it to turn on, have tried bypassing sensors to close the circuit and see where ...

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

oh yeah one other thing, the radiator fan is now not working - its not off a vtr so hard for you guys to help, but it worked fine before and ran for a couple of minutes after switching engine off. Theres just one electrical plug connecting straight into the loom so that should be fine (same cables ...

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

ah yeah I noticed that...I just left it as is as I don't actually know what it does? Actually thought it was some type of breather for the top of the rockers? Its got a straight aftermarket pipe, so I guess I'll remove it if thats whats needed! I can block off the hole in the airbox and just replace ...

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

guys...I've found a local complete motor just 5 mins down the road, but its a 2006. Wouldn't be an issue if I re-wired the buggy with the new loom etc as everything is included, eco, carbs, airbox etc but to save me the hassle I'd prefer to drop it in and simply 'plug' anything back in, as electrics ...

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

bad news, cylinder 2 is .25 out of round, so I would need to strip the crankcase down to get them bored...he think's its somehow got dust/dirt inside the chamber for the cylinder to wear as much as it has, he thinks these cylinders should do 100,000k's easy? So at this stage I'll have a look for a ...

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

bit of a wait sorry guys, block is at my machinists getting measured and honed, only a simple job I know but might as well get him to do it. Ring gaps were above service limit, by a fair bit around 0.2mm over, so I'll get a slightly oversized piston and rings to suit once I have the final ...

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

just ordering some parts, I don't know the year of my engine. Am I right in saying the vtr 1000 F's are they same engine setup between 98 and 05? I know its in that era, engine code SC36? does that sound about right?

cheers

Re: help cold starting a vtr 1000

yeah its the same story here, you have to pay a customs fee for any incoming goods, which isn't too much, but they do random check about 1 in 4 parcels get opened and then you get charged for their time, and 20% GST (VAT) on the items nz value. I've been caught out before from parts from america and ...
