Re: Running like crap in the rain

So I took the front coil out, used an inner tube to cover it all and re-installed. Started for a bit then died off, last of the rain water i thought. Tried to start her up again in a bit and nothing, presumed i'd flooded it from attempting to start. Left it overnight, when i went to start this morni...

Wanted: CBR Stick coil

Hi guys,

My front coil is a bit corroded and letting rain in, i'll be sealing around it but i'd like to put a new one in before I do.
Does anyone have a nice clean one lying about? Or even a cheap set if you don't want to split them.
I'm in Ireland.

Cheers guys!

Re: Running like crap in the rain

Cheers Tony,

I might try the inner tube idea. Reckon that could help once I get a new coil.

Thanks!

Re: Running like crap in the rain

Drain bolt is clear. I always had the same problem after I did the stick coil mod. I had to make a rubber spray flap. I also had one coil that had cracked, so pull it out, and slide the plastic tube sleeve off the coil, if you can see rust it's a giveaway. Was that on the front or rear? And how did ...

Running like crap in the rain

Lads, bit of help cos my head is fried! Bike generally goes well. But a bit of rain comes down, even a little bit and in lower gears (1-3) it splutters and chokes and acceleration goes to shite. It's like the front cylinder misfires or something. Only happens when it rains! Have the stick coil mod d...

Re: Ignition Boosters

Makes sense.
I've already done the stick coil mod, so don't need this. But was more curious than anything else!

Ignition Boosters

Hi guys, I'm sure this has been discussed before, and I suspect I already know the answer. But what is the general consensus on those ignition boosters all over eBay? Complete shite, harmless but pointless or bad for your bike and engine? http://m.ebay.ie/itm/uxcell-Vehicle-FireStorm-Ignition-Coil-B...

Halfords battery charger fire

So went to plug in the trickle charger this evening, connected it to the quick connectors on the bike, popped into the shed and heard an electric splutter. Came back out of the shed to see the rubber of the cable smoking and melting, internal wires glowing with heat. Rush back into the shed and turn...

Rear shock options

Howaya lads, So the rear shock is on its way out according to my mechanic. There's a few oem shocks on ebay for less than €50 euro, but am I taking a chance that they might be as knackered as mine? I'm not interested in the money for Ohlins or Macon. Even the USA ones are pretty steep. What else is ...

Re: Steering bearings

Thanks guys,

Yeah notchy steering is definitely something i deal with.
I'm getting my forks looked at this month as i need new oil and there's a 'click' when i brake, dunno what's causing it. Figured it'd be a good time to replace the original bearings.

Chain adjuster stuck!

Hi guys, So went to adjust the chain over the weekend. Left side adjuster - no worries. Right side - stuck solid. The bolt is rounded so can't even get a spanner or socket on to grip it properly. So i left a soldering iron on the bolt for around 30 mins thinking the heat might sort it but no such lu...

Was thinking of doing this myself, but there's obviously a fair amount of work to be done!

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Drove to work with a shitty aftermarket mirror I found in a breakers to tie me over til I pick up a new pair. Rattles around like a b8stard!
