Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

Ok I revised my CCT, this what I had done. Removed all the old parts from the original CCT's, bought 130mm stainless M6 bolts. Put the plunger back in the CCT with the clip holding it in place and then use the M6 threaded bolt along with a dowty washer, stainless washer 2 x nuts and a spring washer ...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

:D Well good news, replacement cylinder head arrived and new gaskets and seals. Spent yesterday evening and this evening bolting her back together and used my modified CCT's along with fresh oil and coolant. Turned her over a few times by hand and then using the starter with the plugs out before let...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

This should work OK in theory but I'm a little uncomfortable about it. The internal screw of the auto tensioner is kept in place by the (now missing) spring. Instead of a torque being applied by the spring you have a bolt hard up against the end of it. You have two pieces doing the job when only on...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

Oh I see you modified it yourself....cool. Yep do the same to the rear and you will have two MMCT's..... possibly :confused I am confused how you have done this. The bolt should go right through. Basically you drill a hole right through the inside of the tensioner and then replace with a coach bolt...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

That's a Bazza style MMCT you have there. Looks like they have been changed already so all you need to do now is refit LOL Well that sounds like a good thing then so I will continue down this route. However just to clarify the photo I posted is what I have ended up, they were standard Honda automat...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

Well I have ordered the replacement gaskets and seals etc that I need to complete the job, but whilst I am awaiting for them to arrive I've been reading more about the CCT failures and what people have done over the years regarding Manual CCT's, stopper mod etc. I disassembled the tensioner that cam...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

So far I've only found 1 2nd hand front cylinder head, but it seemed expensive so I didn't bother with that. A local bike engine builder has too much work on so can't help me at the moment and David Silver's want close to £200 for parts to repair my head if I can find somebody who can replace the g...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

Ok so i have take the head off the front cylinder. Unfortunately I could get the timing marks too line up because upon removing the cam cover the chain had jumped and wasn't turning the cams when turning the crank. So as I knew that valves were bent and that the suspected cause was the CCT, I remove...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

No need for complete engine only a front cylinder head you know is good. It's very easy to do a quick swap then, and only costs some time, new head gasket and coolant. It's a mornings work with Tea and fag breaks included. Lets hope you front exhaust header pipe flange is easy to remove and the nut...

Re: Evening all, newbie signing in.

Sounds good, I'm pretty good with the spanners and have rebuilt car engines before so I'm not frightened of getting my hands dirty.
