I've been thinking about fitting VFR800 clocks to mine (not the VVT), in fact I have already got a VFR tank to match for extra capacity as well <s>.

I always thought carb-balancing was to smooth tick-over out, when a small difference between throttle position could make a difference. Remember that stationary you may be doing 2000 rpm but you won't have any load on the engine. You will need the throttles open more to do 2000 rpm when riding ...

I had probs with my speedo not working which turned out to be water in the elec cables that feed the speedo. I eventually found out what the problem was when I took the fairing off removed the speedo head and when the cables dangled down half a pint of water ran out of the cable sleeve! What was ...

I agree with your description after hearing it on the vid. It sounds like something is slapping in sympathy, almost like something loose on the bike, but if that were the case I can't understand why it then goes away on opening the throttle. It almost seems like it is connected to the throttle ...

Simon, 1) ok 2) Dunno I have never felt mine (I still have the standard RR) but I would expect them to get warm. 3) Switch the meter to read DC volts on a suitable range ie 0-25 volts. Then put the red probe on the +ve battery terminal and the black on the neg .... etc. With the ignition off you ...

Thanks for that all. I should have said I am really after the FI bodies themselves to replace my VTR carbs. You can buy ECUs that you program yourself (I don't just mean remap) for oddball installations. I have a VFR tank so can drive the FI units with it's pump. I'll just keep dreaming for a while ...

Varadero fuel injected 1000F?

Does anyone know if a Varadero FI system has been fitted to a 1000F and what the outcome was?

Thanks for that, think you're right that it's 14mm, I have 2 already but they won't go all the way down to the plug, the walls are too thick. Good idea I'll buy plugs tomorrow & take them with me. Alan.. I had the same problem with the front plug, my standard plug sockets wouldn't fit. I still ...

A couple of thoughts. Don't worry too much about your stator resistance values being high, the important thing is that they are similar. If a winding had failed it would go open or closed circuit (most likely open). It's a shame Honda don't give a voltage output for the stator. I once measured an ...

Good news hopefully! The only R/R trouble I have had was on an old GSX1100 and I fitted an after market replacement. IIRC it cost me about £50 and was the only trouble I ever had.

When you go out in the morning the battery voltage should be 12.6. This is based on that after full charge (ie a ride) the terminal voltage will drop quickly to 13.2 V and then slowly to 12.6 V. If it is less than this then the battery isn't holding it's charge and hence be sluggish turning over ...
