CV carb operation

I've asked this before and got good answers but I'm still confused even after hours of useless research. The question that's been keeping me awake is factory pro says that at full throttle 7500 to redline is main jet and full throttle I think like 4500 to 7500 is needle but wouldn't any rpm at wide ...

[quote=8541Hawk post_id=475129 time=1559184227 user_id=11385] Have you done anything else or just installed a set of pistons I just removed the air box snorkel because when I disassembled the engine to put the pistons in the spark plugs were black so I went the easy route and instead of rejeting I j...

Re: JE high comp noise

The only way to tell is on a Dyno but you could try raising the needles and see if it stops. If you haven't changed the filter of cans then I can't see the pistons making a difference to fueling. What sort of noise are you hearing? It was detonating, I switch out main jets and put snorkel back on n...

Re: Red storm dyno - hp on engine

so my thinking is that ide open throttle no matter the rpm the slide is all the way up so how could needle tapper affect 5 to 7rpms or whatever if when you go full throttle the slide is in the same position throughout 1000 to 10000 rpms. The bit you are not taking into account is that these are CV ...

Re: Red storm dyno - hp on engine

Good to hear you are making progress. I'm still waiting on slides but will let you know if I find anything else, due to the exhaust, once I get them fitted. I am running different needles, though I am looking into that right now  4K-5K is on the needles but the pilot circuit still has a lot o...

Re: JE high comp noise

I just put in my JE 11.5 to 1 pistons and there amazing btw but when I go WOT it makes a louder than usual noise only from 5000 and stops before 6000rpm if I ease into the throttle it doesn't make that noise and as soon as i get passed 6000 rpm it stops I'm using high octane gas idk what it is do a...

Re: Finally got the JE High Compression pistons put in

Good write-up, good result, well done. Looks like you got them the right way round- I may try that myself this time...... Glad it's feeling good; I'll be doing exactly the same very shortly. I'm just playing a little airbox game first. I may also skim 30 thou off the heads as well, to add a little ...

Be careful, and wear eye protectors.
Cool thanks

Re: JE wrist pin clips

They are matched to the piston groove, the groove could be deeper and are certainly a different groove width compared to the standard piston. I wouldn't risk it, but there is no lateral force acting on the pin; and therefore the retaining clips. Except the rocking couple exerted by the fact that th...

Guys I need help I bent one of the JE circlips and need to know if I can use oem circlip. The oem ones are just a little smaller than the JE clips but they seem to work if I recall correctly the oems were 1.47 mm thick and the JEs were 1.70 so about .2 of a mm smaller but like I said it seems to hol...

Re: Intake or ex cams

The plates I am running are called Hyperplates. They are hard anodized and cryogenically treated. Not sure how they`d hold up for drag racing or with a slipper clutch, but I've had them for many years now and never had a problem (am not a burnout/wheelie guy, however). Unfortunately, the company th...

Re: Red storm dyno - hp on engine

Problem is not afr itself, but speed of change, it is going rich too quickly, and biggest drop is betwen 4.5-5. Though 5-6 is not ideal. Its all about the afr Stephan, nothing else. The reason there is a fast change between 4.5-5 is that your pilot ( too rich ) & needles ( way too lean ) are wa...

Just found the GPS I left under the seat for the day https://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i457/tomalite/240.jpg The needle was about 240ish but I was a bit busy to really look. The elevation is probably close, humidity nearer nil and the day 28-30c I guess...I got sunburn between runs. Very respect...
