Re: Almost had a fault free ride.... almost !

Glad you finally got a trouble free ride....is your speedo in Kph?  Before you go to the expense of a new rear shock (although it isn't a great standard shock) you may find servicing the linkage bearings and swing arm pivot sorts some of your woes - especially if it's not been loved! :th...

Re: Your top speed

If your needle is being buried past 180 mark then it safe to assume you have gone one tooth smaller on the front cog. Otherwise your in need of a new speedo :D Well if you knew me you would know that I personally think going to lower gearing on a VTR is counter productive....IMHO any bike I can pul...

Re: First Track Day

This is the Honda bulletin from back in'98 Yes it says "front carb" but they meant "rear carb". When the lines are run "as stock" the rear carb can puke fuel into the front carb under hard braking. The staggered stacks makes it a nice clean shot..... Personally ...

Re: First Track Day

Had an awesome day although not totally uneventful..... Bike wouldn’t start, the fuel line was trapped by rear rocker (I have a fuel pump) sorted it, went out on sighting lap and realised in my haste I hadn’t checked tyre pressure since Sept last year! Bike is running amazing, I don’t know w...

Re: Almost had a fault free ride.... almost !

Drum role please ! It finally happened.... my first problem free ride  Did a 240 mile trip with no faults or mishaps yayyyyyyyyy :D Gave me chance to get more used to the bike at least. Took the first half of the trip at a steady rate up to the 100 mark, to try and get a feel of the handling an...

Re: Kate Middleton and Prince William's police escort hits widow

He will probably get removed from royal escort duty and demoted back down to regular motorcycle traffic duties. That's my guess. Or it will get swept under the carpet and we wont hear anything as there is so much political crap in the media as a distraction right now. We would feel lucky not to go ...

Re: Your top speed

The actually top speed with a stock geared bike and a stock ECU is between 155-160 MPH. The speedo will be buried past 180MPH indicated at this time due to a couple of factors including built in speedo error and a thing called tire slip. Been there more than once.... As for how the bike pulls in th...

Re: Little bit more progress....

I want my wheels powder coated. Looking at those I want it done far worse grrrrrr no more pics  Luckily it's cheaper if its done far worse. Rattle can, seven quid. Masking tape on the tyres and back on the bike 20 minutes later. hmmmm I had thought about doing that. Ive a long list that keeps ...

Re: Hi All

Tidy looking bike ! I bought a silver 97 model a few weeks ago with only 4300 miles on the clock. Love the thing. Caracter in spades. Brisk without sweat ! :) That's really low miles, must be like new! Its in good nick but not as good as it should be for the low mileage ! I paid the rather hefty su...

Re: Kate Middleton and Prince William's police escort hits widow

Is it just me that thinks of the incident as very ironic ? This was a cop who sole purpose was to keep an eye open for any obstructions, be it vehicles or pedestrians ! Only to run over an elderly woman ! Hardly a fast moving unavoidable subject. I wonder what would happen if I did it ? I wonder wha...

Re: Your top speed

What's the fastest you've gotten the vtr up to, any mods? Anybody pass the 160mph mark? Not had mine proper flat out yet. It hit 150 easily enough. Not sure how much faster it would go held on for longer. I Shall try it when I can. I think it might just touch 160. Thats on the clock of course. Alth...

Re: How long do you think we have?

For a bike that hasn't been produced in 14 years there are actually quite a few still around. People still love them. How long before it starts to fade away? How long before the Op Storms start slowing down? Or will it never happen? Doesn't help that the government is starting to demonise petrol ve...
