Paint Quantity?

Hey all, My race bodywork has just shipped and should be here in a week or 2. I've decided to paint it myself  I'm going to paint in RC30 white/light blue/blue and red. I've never painted using a spray gun and 2k paint before (i'm using a LVMP gun) so have no idea of how much paint I might ...

Re: 2021 Steering Damper Options?

I'm using a LSL kit and it had initial issues with a bend damper rod. The issue was that it felt strange when steering into slight corners at the German Spreewaldring. For debugging I loosend the steering damper fork clamp and viola - effect was gone. At home I had a closer look at the damper and f...

Re: 2021 Steering Damper Options?

I would say why do you want a damper before you have even ridden the bike? Sure you might find you need one but I really doubt it. In the 24 yrs I have had a VTR, I have encountered head shake a total of 1 time. Even then it was more my fault than the bikes as I was on the gas through some pretty t...

Re: New Aus member....

Frame has been tidied up, shims adjusted, rocker covers given a lack of high heat paint, loom stripped and its starting to be reassembled. Still waiting on big ticket parts to arrive, most notably the rear shock and rearsets. Silicone hoses are also enroute. The subframe has been blasted and is read...

2021 Steering Damper Options?

Gday all, I'm putting together a VTR1000f race bike, and I'm at the stage where I need to spec a damper. I know some will say "why do you want a steering damper" , well, its a race bike, and it will be ridden enthusiastically. I'm looking at options, and reckon my best option (without blow...

Re: New Aus member....

A few quick pics of progess. Complete strip down, valve clearance check(and adjustment) along with some MCCTs. Ordered heaps of parts (including rear sets 8O ) Waiting on shims to arrive, then I can start building the motor back up again and reframe. Found Honda's sneaky <100bhp restrictions that a ...

Re: New Aus member....

As I do use mine on track, too, I'd have a few additions. Before you get any other brake calipers, try Lucas SRQ brake pads without the backplates. The Brembo master cylinder has which diameter? The stock pump has 14mm, usually you go higher with radial pumps. I use a 5/8 (around 16 mm) SC57 radial...

Re: New Aus member....

Welcome to the VTR team. that race series sounds like fun, what other bikes will you be racing against? Only thing I would add to your wave 1 list is : Stiffer fork springs some calipers off a CBR600F with bigger pistons and a bigger pad area, then match the master cyl size to these. Have a look at...

New Aus member....

G'day all, Just picked up a new (to me) 2006 VTR1000f with the purpose of racing a "Classic" bike in our local pre modern/retro era classes. Amazing to think that these are now old enough to qualify for classic or historic racing events. The rules for my local Pre modern class allow bikes ...
