Re: bike fouling plugs on hard braking.

So it just pi**es fuel out of the front vent hose when you slam the brakes on?
If so, may have to get a catch bottle, gotta be risky if it gets all over the header pipes/track?

Re: bike fouling plugs on hard braking.

Gotta ask, how does pointing the hose downwards help the situation?

Re: bike fouling plugs on hard braking.

cheers lads, will give it a go. Thanks for the info.
Just for the record, the std calipers/MC are amazing with new EBC x x series discs and hh pads. I had the back wheel in the air from 100mph. Don't know why folk change the the calipers etc.

bike fouling plugs on hard braking.

Was leathering the old storm round Castle combe, and noticed that on really hard braking into chicanes, the bike sometimes felt like it fouled the plugs. ie no power/misfiring, but then would clear its throat after a sec or 2 on WOT. The bike is on std jetting, 48 pilots and slip ons. Turning the id...

Re: CCT worries

Yes, change them. Changing the engine is a pita. Most of the ebay ones are OK. You just need to loctite on the threads, and set the chain tension with 5-10mm freeplay, and it will do the job fine.

Fork protrusion Firestorm

When we're talking 5 or 10mm forks out of the top yoke, ie dropping the front end of the bike, are we talking total protrusion or to the circlip groove on the fork? The cirlip groove is 6mm from the top of the fork as std. Slightly confusing I know! I was reading that some have only dropped the fron...

E10 Petrol

Just filled up a full tank of Sainsburys finest E10 last night, and the bike coughed a few times going home after the fill up. Only had short run back, but it's not looking good.
12000mile, 1997 bike, all standard. Petrol sure smells weird going in

Re: Forks

There is very little tolerance in the brake 'buttons', so they easily warp and give the pulsing through the lever. Put light machine/penetrating oil on the buttons and stick them in the oven on your missus's best baking tray for an hour/ gas mark one. This relaxes the metal, and sometimes unwarps th...

Re: Yoshi cans

Let us know what jets you used, ie Keihin or dynojet. Akrapovic stuff is always great, as it's never too loud but sounds great still. All the race bikes \i've run in tghe past have got through Castle combe's infamous sound meter

Re: Dusty rat pee smelling VTR rescue

It's a Honda, so it can be saved. The vinegar in the tank does work, just remember to fill the tank or swish sticky 2 stroke/similar around to stop it flash rusting instantly

Good stuff Stuart. Skidmarx removed don't have the moulds anymore, but didn't want to pay £200 anyway :) Will look into getting some scrapper fairings.

Race bodywork alternative

Hey folks, building my storm up, and at the stage where I need bodywork.
What bodywork can be made to fit without too much hair pulling? I was gonna go std, but prices seem too high for grp stuff.
I only have half a rear subframe so was thinking that something thin like an rs250 seat unit may fit??
