I am waiting on a set arriving from someone, but as of yet they haven't appeared. If they don't then I wouldn't mind giving you a shout for them.

Re: Spluttering and only firing on one cylinder (front)

Could be the rear coil shorting out due to the wet...Lashings of WD40 (other water dispersant sprays are available..) Carry a small can with you & if it happens again give it a spray...It might just be the plug cap...IIRC Bazza had an issue like that last year in heavy rain. Or change the coil ...

Re: Spark plug box socket or tool kit

I am in the same position, need to keep borrowing a mates to change my plug as I don't have one. All my sockets are too big for the recess. Apparently it needs to be a thin walled socket and apparently the 18mm Halfords Professional Deep drive socket fits, but don't seem to be in stock. Anybody know...

Old Coil packs or HT leads wanted. (non working fine.)

After the weekends dropping of the rear cylinder due to possible coil arcing due to excess water, I am in the process of waiting on CBR coil sticks. Was wondering if anybody had any spare old (not necessarily working) old coil packs or even just the HT plug cap, as I am planning on trying to experim...

Re: Spluttering and only firing on one cylinder (front)

Now that it has dried out it is starting and running fine. Took out for a few miles and rides perfect. Simulated the symptom's if yesterday by pulling the rear coil connection, so its def, coil when wet, as plug hole dry and plug is only a few months old. CBR coils ordered, but anything else to be c...

Spluttering and only firing on one cylinder (front)

Damn, after a great 2 days and fantastic weather, riding on the west coast of Scotland, heading home today in torrential rain, bike starts to splutter and lack power. Then its OK, then back to spluttering with no power. It seems intermittently to be dropping the rear cylinder, as the exhaust pipewor...

Engine oil contains small bits of metal

Just done an oil and filter change on the bike, and looking at the bottom of the oil pan (old wash basin which is grey with black specs) there are a few tiny specs of silver. I mean they are tiny, just about visible, and not a huge amount, so was wondering if they could be remnant from my cam cap fa...

PM's seem to be stuck in out box?

Tring to send a PM to : gl_s_r

But messages seem to be stuck in outbox and not being moved to sent items, hence I think they are not being delivered to gl_s_r?

Any Ideas?

Re: Which Coolant Should I use?

I spent quite a bit of time over the winter looking at coolant for renewal on my rebuild. I found some interesting stuff online and some scary facts about coolant and what is available. At the end of the day, the best coolant to use needs to be 'Ethylene Glycol' based but also more impotantly 'silic...

Re: slight tapping

Check the cam guides in the head. I had the same a few months back coming back from Troon, only to find after being recovered home that one of my cam guide caps had sheared in half!!! Sounded like a CCT rattle, but knew it wasnt as have manuals installed. Back on the road again now. Managed to get a...

Re: Help required! Cam cap Failure!

Tony,

That would be much appreciated. I would test and see what tolerance is like and return any or all of them if not suitable.

Cheers

Re: Help required! Cam cap Failure!

I cant understand the failure either as I checked and double checked everything when I put back together after shim replacement over the winter. All the rest are ok. Been trawling the forums and speaking to a lot of specialists today, and the consensus is that there is no fix to the problem. The cap...

Re: Help required! Cam cap Failure!

Lloydie,

It is the Front head Exhaust cap, so a front cylinder head would be required. Are you in a position to help a very depressed storm owner?

Help required! Cam cap Failure!

Think this has to be a first! Serviced the bike over the winter, done the valve clearances, changed shims and all put back together as per workshop manual with correct torques. 1000 miles later and on Sun night after coming off the boat at Troon, rattle, rattle rattle. Recovery home. Knew it wasn't ...
