What is this hole?

Guys, I have been overhauling the bike and found this small hole at the front of the clutch side housing at the front of the water pump impeller. I have a spare old engine casing which seems to have a right angled nipple on it so was wandering what it is for and what should be correct. The hole, or ...

Steering head adjystment torque

Would anybody on here have the Steering Stem socket they could possibly lend me before Fri. Have installed new head bearings and heading on a west coast Scotland run on Fri and Sat and although I have tightened them to what I think is ok, I would like to set to the right torque http://i211.photobuck...

Brake Caliper refurbishment??

I am currently trying to help a mate out who is a bit strapped for cash, so I have said I would help him out in sorting his Vstrom if he paid for the parts. Replacements required are - clutch plates , oil and filter service, wheel bearings (front) and front brake overhaul, (as pistons have seized). ...

Re: Steering Damper

No setup issues. Bike is fine.

Just had it give a wee shake a couple of times when we have been away on our rapid 2 day tours when it has been loaded up (camping gear etc) and when really pushing on.

Steering Damper

Was thinking of putting a steering damper on the bike, but not anything in the price region of a Sprint or Ohlins!!! I have got the dimensions and stroke required, where the body is 223mm and the stroke is 130mm of one that is already fitted to a Storm (side mount). The body length should not really...

Re: Benny Update

Really is such sad sad news. These barriers can be a life saver for cars, but are lethal for bikers. One of my mates nearly lost his life 2 years ago to these type of barriers. Would so like to attend and pay respects, but unfortunately won't be able to make it down. Please pass on my regards to his...

Re: rear brake rotor

Saw this on Ebay too. Listed on Ebay Australia.

Very nice disc, but was a bit wary over the postage cost and also if you get caught with the dreaded import tax!

Re: Electrics Suddenly Totally Dead!

The old regulator was a finned honda one and it has been replaced with another finned honda one. So hoping it hasn't gone in 2 months. Once i get the new battery I will know for definate if it is a battery issue, regulator issue or a wiring issue. Will just be a case of tracking it down.

Electrics Suddenly Totally Dead!

Replaced the regulator about a couple of months ago, and have had numerous long and short runs plus a track day with no problems. Went out for a run on Sat and all was ok till I got home and parked up. Then went out to put the bike in the garage, turned it on, and pressed the start button. 1 crank o...

Re: Valve clearance?

I think I am okay for checking the clearances, as they have not been done in the years I have owned the bike. The 1 owner before me had a full service history for the bike with everything done at the appropriate times, but I refuse to let anybody work on my bike and do all the work myself. Pretty me...

Re: superbike track day .. mods required ..

Geordie, Was really good to meet you. Had an absolute brilliant day. Can't really recommend it enough as you get soo much track time. Everybody was very helpful and yes it's a chance to rag the sh*t out of the bike when I would never actually run it that hard normally. Both Storms on the d...

Valve clearance?

Is there a step by step guide anywhere for checking and adjusting valve clearances along the lines of the cct guide. Had a look in the workshop section but couldn't see anything. Cheers.
