Re: Sprockets / Gearing - Blunder?......

Back on the road now with 2 new sprockets & a chain! Thought it might be worth a mention that B&C could not supply the 17 front for 2 weeks, however Talon supplied same day and at half the cost at little over £13 inc VAT.. Anyone want to buy a 15t sprocket? Going cheap!..... Lesson le...

Re: Sprockets / Gearing - Blunder?......

Ok - After issuing myself "Plank of the week" award ( :o ) Ive ordered a 17 front to run with the 42 rear. I figure better that than sticking with the 16 and turning into a rear wheel hooligan (again)! Im not sure if Im more gutted about my costly blunder or the fact that the bike is now o...

Sprockets / Gearing - Blunder?......

Hi. I wanted to change gearing as Im always looking for an extra gear that isnt there and to give me a few more mpg when sat on m/way. I opted for 15/42 which Ive now put on bike, but before I cut my chain and fit Im having a mental block and have a doubt in my mind that Ive made a big fo-par and ge...

Re: Fork Seals Popping

Ive checked the original invoice but there is no ref to part/type reference, E-bay transaction, VTR1000F 97-03. Fingers crossed some genuine one's will sort out my headache.
Not worth trying to save a penny when pattern goes wrong & I'm spending again, Doh!

Fork Seals Popping

Hi all. About a month ago I replaced 1 fork seal coz it had blown, using pattern (vesrah I think) Due to the age difference in oil I changed the other fork seal and for a while the bike felt like it was on rails. Recently, about a week, the original seal that blew has gone again. This morning the ot...

Re: Cain and sprockets

Hi rob Std is 16 front 41 rear. Value for money depends on riding style, bad habits and how good you are at looking after your chain etc Std Honda is £99 +vat @ Dave Silver, if in doubt stick to genuine, that'l be why Honda fit them. As for me, (see 'sprockets / gearing' thread) I am going to try a...

Re: Datatool Alarm gremlins

Thanks guys I had to rely on the car mech next door to come to the recsue (You'd understand if you saw me stood in the p***ing rain armed with a blunt pair of scissors!) Alarm chopped out and immobilser by-passed very basically simply to get it running and home. I am yet to make all good with solder...

Datatool Alarm gremlins

Hi. My bike is sadly & frustratingly stranded 35 miles away due to me not being able to dis-arm the alarm and start the girl. I have recently changed the battery in the key fob and am happy this is fine. Im not getting any 'bleeps' when pressing the arm/dis-arm buttons. The ignition, lights etc ...

Re: Clacking at low Revs - CCTs or Clutch?

regretfully not..... but thanks for the comment
I experienced that hiccup whilst fitting new grips with too much grip glue, now they are soooo solid to the throttle housing they're going no where!
I'll let you know if it persists and/or my findings.....

Re: Sprockets / Gearing.....

Thanks for the feedback all.... I run aftermarket cans, jetting unknown, standard sprockets, 65+ miles daily on flat, straight, boring A roads and Im getting not much more than 100 miles to the tank and/or approx £8+ a day. Does that calculate?!?!? Average speed around 80+ (sorry officer!) not push...
