Is this turning into a new craze or something

Chris.
its cause all us owners of RED firestorms have an unexplainable psychic link, it must be to do with the extra speed our bikes have over other colours... :D

Re: Oil etc

I am lucky as my car uses Mobile 1 Super S 10w40 so I buy in bulk and use it for both. I have found Opie oils work out expensive if you want just one 5 litre bottle due to the cost of delivery, sometimes Halfords do deals on the oil and I buy 2 or 3 x 5litre. I worked out that you need to buy at lea...

Re: Bike cranks but won't fire

I agree its like a black art, and I have found that if the battery is down on power it becomes more difficult. I will always start mine without choke or throttle unless the weather is cold, as I find she will run without both, may stall once or twice but once the bikes running and carbs have settled...

Re: Bike cranks but won't fire

I would suggest checking the voltage across the battery whilst the bike is running to check that the rectifier is not buggering the battery and is charging it correctly. Should be around 12.5 to 13.5 volts.

Re: Bike cranks but won't fire

I bet the battery isn't 100%. Either charge it for a few days or get a new one. Jumpstarting as previously suggested will also help it... I bet it fires with a full charge... this is a good bet, cause mine was having problems, it was turning over but not enough to fire up immediately, charged the b...

Re: Bike cranks but won't fire

Wow thanks for the warm welcome and quick replies everyone. but iirc the later ones didn't have an on/off tap fitted so may be that a previous owner fitted a tap him/herself Sorry I may have messed up my terminology here; what I'm talking about isn't a tap you can turn on and off, but just the part...

Re: Bike cranks but won't fire

Telomere, sorry to hear of your problems but I have had a mild version in the past with my storm, I have found that she does not like sitting on her side stand for long periods and when you do firer her up its a bit of a black art. I never turn the throttle, if its cold or been a while I pull the ch...

Re: Hello From Suffolk

Hi there and welcome to the site, mine is getting stripped as well typical maintenance head bearings, fork seals, see the list of bits I have chosen to do - one thing I can mark off, I have just bought a NWS ghost hugger for 38 quid, retail 120. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=...

Re: Now I have them , not good

pariah, You have stumbled across something I have been researching. I have viper cans that are allly and want a mirror finish, before I start it will take a long time and the results will not last if you do not keep on top of it. Mine were a brushed finish, so I started to wet and dry with around 85...

Re: winter maintainance

When mine goes away for the winter, I will start with WP progressive springs and new shock oil along with fork seals, whilst the shocks are off i'm going to polish them. Fitting braided hoses. Fit air horn. Fill in chips on the fairing and Lacquer. Powder coat or spray the fairing frame, cause there...

Re: LIST OF NAMES FOR OPERATION STORM 2010 ride out

I'm well up for that, the camping thing might be a good idea to expand on, we could have a bonfire and sing songs and cook marshmellows..
