tight spot on rear wheel

before you say it, its not the chain (i think, anyway). was lubing the chain today and hand rolled the rear wheel to check it. Found a sort of dry sounding tight spot. The wheel still turns pretty freely but... ... is it the bearings? MOT due soon and i would not mind knowing what the problem is ...

corrosion

Corrosion on my VTR does not seem too bad. All my previous bikes got ridden to death summer and winter parked in the rain outside the house, with a cover on if i got round to it. The VTR was the first bike really in good enough condition to worry much. I have a garage now, which makes a big diffence ...

nice

Bars look in standard position to me, but i doubt that faring would give much wind protection at a ton plus.

MCN

Read an article on Ebay in MCN (approx 3 weeks ago). It said E Bay was not the best place to buy bikes. Not that cheap, cant see what youre getting, could be a scam,,, which can also be true getting it from private sale of course. Dunno about you lot but once I get close the the 3k stage I start ...

good news

I like the sound of doing 20k on one chain.
My last bike was a zzr600 and it stretched chain like it was liquorish.

Only reason I asked was Im getting a bit of vibration on the left footpeg and i wondered if it was the chain. But sounds not.

(hi vtr girl - nice to be back)

burble burble donk

Mine does it too. Always thought it was a bit weird but its never got worse.
Maybe my carbs need balancing cos it hasnt been done in a while.

It is weird though, I can feel it through the seat. :?:

modified vtrs

I saw a vtr the other day with wavy brake disks and tiny indicators. Somehow it just looked used and abused. Makes me a bit wary about spending loads on mods.

After market pipes for sure.

Also Im thinking about getting rid of the rear mud guard and fitting an undertray. Anyone done this?

25k service

Its been a while since I had my bike serviced. She's running smooth enough and I do all the usual stuff but how hard is it to balance the carbs. Could I do it myself or am i more likely to round off bolt heads, scratch up the bike and generally wish Id got someone to do the job properly?

invention

Ive seen bike exhausts with baffles that can be added for MOT purposes. Would not be that hard to make a baffle on a hinge with a wire to a thumb leaver. perfect for when pulling up next to plod or early morning starts.

when should i change my chain

My chain seems fine. Its not stretched, nor has it got bad tight spots. But Ive had it on for about 12k miles. seems a lot but without any symptoms of serious wear should I change it?
